Country X Reader: A Little Misfit (Romano)

Halfway down the hall, you heard footsteps behind you and turned around to see.....

...Romano.....

You had never talked to the Italian before, but had always admired him from a far. He was very handsome after all.

Thinking he was there to pick on you too, you said"What the hell do you want?"

He looked at you with sympathy which (over the years) you had never seen him do.

Your gaze softened a little from furious to just mad. You then repeated your question"What do you want?!?!" you said, slightly irritated with him for not answering (not that you were surprised though, no one ever answered you).

His beautiful emerald eyes locked with your (e/c) ones, and you almost melted at his caring gaze.

He then said"I was just sitting in the classroom next to yours and heard your little explosion."

"So," you said "why do you care?"

He said "I may be one of the grumpiest people alive, but I'm not a total ass-hole."

You said"That didn't answer my question..." and glared at him.

He gave you a faint smile (which looked strange on his always serious face) and he simply stated"I wanted to make sure you were ok. I feel really bad for you. I see the way those other kids treat you. I may be a jerk, but only to people that give me a reason to be jerky."

Your hatred and anger melted away into gratefulness, and then was replaced with sadness at the thought of your long, and miserable life. At that moment, you broke down and began to cry quite heavily.

Romano pulled you close to him and did his best to hush your sobs.

Kids form other classrooms must have heard you crying and they came out to torment you some more. They were greeted by the odd sight of you crying into Lovino's shoulder. They laughed anyways and called you a crybaby.

Boy, did that piss Romano off.

He yelled something at them in Italian (the only words you could make out were 'stupid' and 'bastard', the rest you couldn't understand, but you had a feeling it wasn't friendly.) Though the two boys laughing didn't understand what Lovino was saying either, they seemed to get the point. You looked up from Romano's shoulder just in time to see their terrified faces and watched them sprint down the hall. You had never seen someone run so fast before.

Romano turned back to you, and you were still crying a little. He lifted your chin so his eyes were level with yours.

You couldn't help but ask why he cared about defending and comforting you, the school freak.

This triggered a little giggle form him, and he said "Ti amo, bella." He paused after that and watched your reaction. You just gave him a funny look. He could tell you had no idea what he just said.

He smiled and began to explain.

He cooed," You are very beautiful, and strong, and smart, I've seen the grades you get. They are very good. You may be considered a freak by most, but not me, I like that you don't fit in. It makes you special. You are truly a Anima Libera."

You smiled and hugged him close and then asked for a translation of the Italian he had said.

He said "Anima Libera means 'free soul'"

You said "What about the 'Ti amo, bella' part?"

A small blush crept across his cheeks and he said, "It means 'I love you, beautiful girl'."

It was your turn to blush now.

You may have just gotten to know him only now, but already you felt the same way.

You gazed into his beautiful green eyes and said"I love you too."

With that, he pulled you in quickly for a sweet, yet passionate kiss. You melted and gladly kissed back with just as much care and energy.

He pulled away and the two of you hugged tightly.

You guys officially started going out then. And let's just say, you became top girl VERY quickly.
